I am a physician, psychiatrist, cultural anthropologist and writer. For the last 30 years I have lived and worked in the Himalayan region while doing a body of research on the nature of the healthy mind amongst Tibetan lamas. My research has been successful, and I've published five books and many papers on it. My work has also won an award from the American Anthropological Association. I did this research as a professor at Nepal's national university. I also gave free medical care to all of the monasteries and villages I visited to do my research. I'm also a really good psychotherapist. I love working with people and helping them find out and become the person they really are -- their true self. I am now coming back to western civilization to lecture and organize conferences about the nature of the healthy mind. My goal is to take my research and change our idea of what a healthy mind is. It is important for humanity to have the correct idea of what a healthy mind is. As matters stand now, all societies bring up their young to have egos. My research has shown that the ego causes two broad realms of malady. It causes the individual people to suffer, and it causes the identity-based conflicts of racism, misogyny, terrorism, religious intolerance and war. We have found that, in contrast, the egoless mind is a healthy mind; given the paradox that the egoless mind has an ego. In keeping with these findings, the goal, once again is to change our notion of the healthy mind. In the meantime, as I transition back to working in America, I'd like to find some interesting work and income!
