Sophia D.
Senior Front-End Developer & UI/UX Designer | React, WordPress
I’m a senior front-end developer and UI/UX designer with 10+ years of experience building modern, user-focused web applications and high-impact marketing sites. Most of my recent work (2016–present) has been React-based front-end development, with additional experience in Vue, WordPress, and design-to-code workflows. I’ve owned entire front ends, from UI/UX decisions through implementation, at companies including Microsoft (Yammer), Beachbody, and Whalerock Industries. My strength is bridging engineering, design, and product goals. I don’t just implement screens, I think through usability, performance, and how interfaces support real business outcomes. I’ve worked on: • React and Vue front-end web applications • Marketing sites, landing pages, and sales funnels • WordPress sites (custom themes, UI rebuilds, performance improvements) • Responsive design systems across desktop and mobile • UI/UX design with direct front-end implementation In addition to client and product work, I’ve also: • Taught and mentored developers in a bootcamp environment • Evaluated tutors and student work • Helped shape front-end best practices and standards I hold an MFA in UI/UX Design and bring strong design judgment to every build. This allows me to collaborate effectively with designers or work independently when no design resources are available. I recently returned to freelance work after taking time away from full-time engineering to care for my child and am now available for part-time, remote projects. I’m a good fit if you need: • A senior front-end developer who can work independently • Clean, modern UI implementation without micromanagement • Someone who understands both design intent and front-end architecture • A reliable partner for scoped projects or ongoing retainers I’m not a fit for rushed, under-scoped, or backend-heavy projects. If you’re looking for a calm, experienced front-end engineer with strong UI/UX instincts, I’m happy to talk.
