Alvin B.
PCB & Electrical Design Engineer
I’m Alvin Branch, an electrical engineer with extensive experience in PCB design. I specialize in transforming concepts and early-stage ideas into reliable, manufacturable products that are ready for testing, certification, and production. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Penn State University and currently work for one of the fastest-growing medical device companies in the United States. Previously, I worked as an electrical design engineer for a leading U.S. defense contractor. My experience in the medical-device and defense industries has given me a disciplined approach to engineering, with a strong emphasis on reliability, safety, quality, documentation, risk management, and compliance-conscious design. My technical capabilities include: • 10+ years of experience in PCB design, layout, and schematic capture • 5+ years of experience using Autodesk Fusion for electronics design, PCB development, 3D modeling, and mechanical integration • Multilayer, mixed-signal, high-speed, high-density, and compact PCB designs • Power electronics, power supplies, voltage regulation, battery-powered systems, and power-distribution architecture • Analog, digital, and embedded hardware development • Microcontroller-based systems, sensors, communication interfaces, and peripheral integration • Component research, selection, qualification, and lifecycle management • Circuit simulation, design analysis, performance optimization, and technical reviews • Signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, shielding, and noise-reduction strategies • EMI/EMC-conscious design, troubleshooting, and pre-compliance preparation • Prototype assembly support, board bring-up, debugging, testing, and design verification • Root-cause analysis and corrective action for complex hardware issues • Design for manufacturability, assembly, testability, reliability, and cost optimization • PCB-to-enclosure integration, connector placement, 3D clearance checks, and fit verification • Bill of materials development, fabrication and assembly files, technical documentation, and production support • Design modernization, component-obsolescence management, and improvements to existing products • Collaboration with mechanical, firmware, software, manufacturing, and quality teams Throughout my career, I have successfully taken products from initial ideas and hand-drawn concepts through requirements development, circuit design, PCB layout, mechanical integration, prototyping, testing, verification, and mass production. I understand that a successful design must do more than function—it must also be reliable, manufacturable, maintainable, cost-effective, and well documented. Whether you need a complete electronic product designed from the ground up, assistance improving an existing design, or support resolving a difficult hardware problem, I can provide practical engineering solutions backed by real-world industry experience. I approach every project with clear communication, careful attention to detail, and a strong commitment to delivering dependable, professional results. If you have an idea or engineering challenge, I would be glad to discuss your requirements and help turn your concept into a successful product.
