Michael H.

In 2020, I won over $400,000 in grants for my clients. For the past five years, I have worked full-time as a fundraising company grant writer, manager, and administrator. Unfortunately, that company has fallen upon hard times so I am excited to be back on Upwork as an active freelancer. Here is what my clients had to say: Thanks for the fantastic on point writing, great communication, and speedy turn-around. Looking forward to working on more projects together. Gabriel Sanchez, Family Help Institute in Brownsville, Brooklyn. Mike H. was AWESOME! He read over the grant and asked us preliminary questions to get a better understanding of our non-profit. His research skills were impeccable! My non-profit team could not be happier about our decision in working with Mike. We will definitely be working together again the future. Desmond Marshall, Project H.O.O.D in Chicago “Dr. Hershorn was great, on time and delivered on schedule. He provided valuable insight as well. I will work with him again.” –Dr. Kwasi Agbleke, Harvard University Skills 5.0, Quality 5.0, Availability 5.0, Deadlines 5.0, Communication 5.0, Cooperation 5.0 I have eight years of experience as a grant writer at a non-profit serving the homeless in West Palm Beach, Florida where I was the Director of Research and Program Evaluation. I was responsible for successful grants resulting in over $3,000,000 in annual funding. During my tenure at the agency the overall operating budget grew from 3 to 6 million dollars. I am fully versed in federal, state, county and private foundation grant application writing and have access to three grant search databases. I take a research-oriented approach to grant writing and identifying evidence-based practices and quantifiable and measurable outcomes. With a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Syracuse University, my grant writing is informed by a deep knowledge of and experience with human development and mental health/substance use issues. As a faculty member at Nova Southeastern University for six years, I am a published author of two self-help psychology books on anger management as well as numerous articles in scientific journals. I have an extensive client list and numerous sample grants and work products which will be provided upon request. If you are looking for help, I am ready to put my varied writing experience to work for you. Let’s work together to create and build effective proposals to grow your agency.
