Robert H.

Top Rated Plus editor/writer with 100% Job Success Score, a PhD in linguistics, 25+ years of experience teaching college English writing, and 7 successful years on Upwork—including over 220 five-star reviews. (Over the past few months I've done some much needed housecleaning and closed out over 100 older, dormant contracts, most of which show below as "no feedback given." To quickly bypass these and read comments from my many satisfied clients, change the view option (the double vertical arrows) beside "Work history" below to "Highest rated" instead of "Newest first.") My approach to editing and writing: Decades of experience have convinced me that the most important skill of good writing is the ability to get inside readers’ heads and see the text from their perspective. This empathy, combined with a comprehensive knowledge of the English language, meticulous attention to detail, and strong communication skills, has generated consistently positive feedback from students and colleagues throughout my career as a professor, tutor, and published researcher and writer. I bring this same expertise and reliability to my work as a freelance writer and editor. My academic career has afforded me literally thousands of hours of experience revising, editing, and proofreading student work, experience that translates directly into my freelance activities and has honed my ability to negotiate meaning in a precise, efficient, and effective way. Moreover, my commitment to each client is the same, no matter the size or nature of the job: I will complete the task expertly and with close attention to the needs and wishes of the client. I look forward to hearing from you about the goals you have for your particular writing project(s).
