I use AI assisted development tools aggressively because they allow an experienced engineer to move much faster, but generating code quickly is not the difficult part of building a production system. The difficult part is knowing what should be built. Architecture, data design, retrieval quality, model selection, agent boundaries, permissions, security, observability, evaluation, latency, infrastructure cost, failure recovery, deployment, and maintainability are where experienced engineering matters. That is where I bring the most value. Founders often hire me because they do not want to coordinate an AI engineer, backend engineer, frontend engineer, DevOps engineer, and architect just to get the first version of a product into production. I can own that entire technical path. I have founded and operated AI companies, worked in senior engineering roles, built production systems across AI, security, fraud, identity, retrieval, and infrastructure, and spent years making technical decisions where reliability matters.
