I am a Ph.D. scientist with over 25 years of academic and industrial R&D experience. I specialize in four main funding areas: (1) Early-stage science and technology companies developing novel technology for dual-use (commercial market and federal acquisition); (2) Academic projects focused on basic and applied research and engineering; (3) Infrastructure projects incorporating novel technologies; and (4) Agricultural producers and related companies supporting domestic farms and the agricultural supply chain. To date, I have acquired over $100 million in funding for my clients from private, local, state, and federal sources. I am exceptionally well-versed in federal assistance and have prepared proposal packages to NSF, NIH, NASA, DOD, DOE, EPA, USDA, NIST, NOAA, and DOT, including regular and SBIR/STTR programs. My experience extends to grants, contracts, cooperative agreements, and “other transactions”, allowing me to advise clients on the differences among these opportunities and ensuring the type of award aligns with a client's current and future goals. I previously served as a development director for two start-ups and currently serve on the advisory boards for four start-ups, all previous clients of mine. Additionally, I have served as a Principal Investigator (PI) or co-Investigator on research projects, and have served as a federal grants reviewer for the National Science Foundation and Department of Energy. With my experience serving as research PI and the work provided for my clients, I have broad expertise in renewable energy, fuels and chemicals, remediation, environmental studies, soil science, agriculture, sustainability, materials, sensors, genetic engineering, medical devices, clinical care medicine, cancer biology, pre-clinical studies, and application of AI/ML techniques in language models, image analysis, and process technology. I provide wrap-around services including identifying funding opportunities, proposal writing and submission, and post-award management. In addition, I provide business consulting for maturing technologies, insertion into federal missions, or translating these to the marketplace by identifying customer bases and developing go-to-market strategies. My combination of experience as a PI, Development Director, and federal grant reviewer allows me to write clear, concise, and compelling narratives aligned with funder goals. My company is registered with SAM.gov, Grants.gov, Research.gov, eRA Commons, and eXchange.gov allowing me to serve as a client's Authorized Organizational Representative for proposal submission and post-award management. I am a registered business entity and carry appropriate insurance to provide peace of mind for my clients.
