My name is Esmeralda Acosta, and I am a bilingual Spanish-English Medical Virtual Assistant from Argentina. I have experience working with EHR systems, call centers, scheduling, prior authorizations, referrals, insurance verification, and other administrative responsibilities that increased as I progressed in my previous roles. I initially worked for two clinics in Suffolk, NY, where I started by making outbound calls for Quality Care Measures. I later took on call center responsibilities and managed both the QCM and call center teams, as I was the first remote employee they had. I also helped train new team members and supported the development of their workflows. After that, I worked in home health, where I contacted patients to welcome them to the agency, scheduled their weekly hours, and coordinated the healthcare professionals needed according to their authorizations. Most recently, I worked as a Referral Coordinator for six clinics in Houston, TX. I processed hundreds of referrals and authorizations each month, helped patients schedule appointments when there was a language barrier, and resolved insurance-related issues to help ensure the referral process moved forward smoothly.
