I mostly get called in after someone else has left. An app on Laravel 6 that nobody has touched in three years. A scraper that quietly stopped returning data in March and nobody noticed until June. Ten years building production web applications, seven of them leading a development team at an Astra Group IT company. Most of my work is Laravel rescue and modernisation. The situation is usually the same: old version, dependencies badly out of date, no documentation, and a team nervous about touching any of it. I upgrade Laravel 5, 6, 7 and 8 codebases to 11 or 12 without taking the site down. I patch security holes, clean up dependency conflicts, and go after slow queries, N+1 problems and pages that take far too long to render. Then I write down how the thing actually works, so whoever comes after me is not in the position I just found you in. The rest is scraping and workflow automation. Scrapers are easy to build and hard to keep alive, and that second part is what most people underestimate. The site changes its markup, the script fails without complaining, and everyone carries on assuming the data is still arriving. So I build monitoring and alerting in from the start. Extraction with Python, Playwright, Puppeteer or Selenium. Anti-bot work: proxy rotation, session handling, rate limits that will not get you blocked. Scheduled pipelines into Postgres or Supabase. n8n for workflow automation, self-hosted if your data cannot leave your own infrastructure. I write an audit before I quote. You will know what is actually wrong and what it costs to fix before you commit any money to it. If the audit says the work is not worth doing, that is what it will say.
