Embedded Systems & PCB Design Engineer | STM32, ESP32, Altium, KiCad
Embedded systems and PCB design engineer with 8 years of experience taking hardware from schematic to working prototype. I design boards in Altium Designer, KiCad and EasyEDA, and write the firmware that runs on them, mostly on STM32, ESP32, nRF52 and other ARM Cortex-M microcontrollers. Most of my clients are startups and small product teams who want one engineer to handle both the hardware and the firmware, and who want to hear early if something in the design will cause problems at manufacturing or certification. What I can help with: - PCB design and layout, from simple 2-layer boards to multilayer designs with BGA, RF and high-speed signals - Schematic design, component selection and BOM cost reduction - Power electronics: SMPS and LED driver design - Analog circuits and sensor interfacing - Motor control and drive electronics - Embedded C/C++ firmware, bare-metal and FreeRTOS - Communication interfaces: CAN, RS-485, RS-232, UART, SPI, I2C, USB, BLE, Wi-Fi - Design reviews and debugging of existing boards - Migrating designs between tools (Eagle to KiCad or Altium, EasyEDA to Altium, and so on) - Getting designs ready for EMC/EMI testing and production: Gerbers, BOM, pick-and-place, assembly drawings, DFM checks for JLCPCB, PCBWay and other manufacturers Tools I use: PCB design: Altium Designer, KiCad, EasyEDA, OrCAD/Allegro, Fusion 360 Electronics Firmware: STM32CubeIDE, ESP-IDF, Keil MDK, PlatformIO, Arduino, VS Code Simulation: LTspice, PSpice, Proteus Mechanical fit: STEP export and enclosure checks with SolidWorks or Fusion 360 Bench: oscilloscope, logic analyzer, J-Link/ST-Link debugging How I work: I simulate the critical analog and power sections before layout, so fewer surprises show up on the bench. You get regular progress updates, clear documentation and a complete set of manufacturing files at handover. If a requirement is unclear or a part choice looks risky, I'll ask or flag it instead of guessing. If you have a new board to design, a prototype that isn't working, or a design that needs to be ready for production, send me a short description of the project. I'll reply with any questions and a rough plan for how I'd approach it.
