Marloes H.
Experienced translator fluent in several languages
Nice to meet you! How can I help you today? I am a very passionate and highly educated translator/lawyer fluent in Dutch, English and Norwegian, and I also speak French at a very high level of proficiency. I have acquired these skills first from education/schooling and then later from actually living in all of these countries. Hence, I have both the formal, academic knowledge of these languages but I am also very familiar with the colloquialism and linguistic quirks local to the country - and also those local to only parts of a country. I have extensive translating experience. I would like to highlight four. Most recently from Sophia Pedigrees, a company where I was responsible for translating (and maintaining translations of) their pedigree software, articles and research into English, French, Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Dutch. For Sophia I also communicated with people from many different European countries using all of these languages. Other relevant translating experience includes Dutch telecom company Redworks, for whom I have translated various business documents, letters and various documentation between Dutch, English and German. When I worked for the Dutch Social Security Administration (Sociale Verzekeringsbank) in Roermond, the Netherlands, I translated documents, often highly complex and technical legal documents, from foreign governments (pertaining to foreign benefits). Finally, as a student I wrote articles for the Dutch legal review Ars Aequi. Several articles were about decisions in the European Court of Human Rights and these articles contained my translations of these legal decisions and my analysis of their context and implications. I have a very high degree of attention to detail. I am dedicated, service-minded, positive and I am looking forward to working on new and challenging projects.
