RF & Antenna Design, Sensors, Radar, Python, DSP, Computing, PCB's
43 years experience in all aspects of RF design and development, including radar, antennas, RF components (filters, amplifiers, couplers, dividers, antennas), software, algorithms, and phenomenology. Much of my work in the last 5 years have been in RF PCB design and development. This background extends to RFID, and other transponder-based products and designs. I also have years of experience in RCS (radar cross section) analyses, simulation, design. I developed algorithms for character recognition, signature extraction, motion compensation, and detection in heavily cluttered environments. I served as a subject matter expert in radar for the US Government. . My experience includes the setup, operation, coding, networking, and serial communication of embedded CPU's, including Raspberry Pi's, Arduino's, and x86-x64. I have a strong background in Linux (Ubuntu, Debian, Raspberry PI OS), and Windows setup and coding. I have integrated many types of LED/LCD displays with those CPU's. This includes having to integrate and modify screen drivers. . Also skilled in software development for advanced and new technologies with a high level of proficiency in Python. Also experienced in .Net, HTML, with some basic skills in C, C#, and JavaScript. I have years of experience with MATLAB and KiCAD. . I have worked for years on IoT, digital electronics, motors (including stepper), A/D boards, networks, digital signal processing, and image processing (including object classification). Systems engineering and integration have been required in many of my projects. . I have my own RF laboratory for testing all sorts of devices. My lab includes oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, RF power meters, antennas (from 5 MHz to 24.5 GHz), bench power supplies, waveform generators, ADC's and more. I have facilities to perform over-water and outdoor measurements. I also have equipment for populated PCB's. My lab also includes cameras of all types (including thermal), which I use for integrated testing with sensors. I have also used the cameras and software (developed by others and by me) for machine learning, including neural networks. . I have powerful PC's I use for simulation, modeling, and CAD. These permit me to perform complex signal processing jobs, RCS simulations, antenna design analyses. I also own 3D printers. . I have managed teams of engineers and technicians for the companies I have worked for, or in my own startups. And I have transitioned many prototypes into products, and participated in the marketing of those products. Although I often work alone on many projects, I have also enjoyed working with other engineers (hardware and software) in larger projects.
