Childrens Book Illustrator Digital and Watercolor
Hi! I’m an illustrator working across children’s books, publishing, comics and commercial projects in both digital and traditional media. I’m not locked into one visual style. My work can range from soft watercolor and colored pencil to detailed digital painting, realistic animal illustration, ink, stippling, engraving and linocut-inspired artwork. What stays consistent is strong drawing, attention to character and anatomy, and the ability to build a visual style that actually fits the project. My recent work includes a long-term Scottish book series: one book featuring 50 notable Scottish figures illustrated in detailed pen and ink, and another focused on Scottish wildlife, landscapes, nature and weather in a vintage natural-history style. I’m also currently illustrating a semi-realistic children’s graphic novel about ants. Other projects include an Australian children’s book painted in watercolor, Australian wildlife and botanical illustrations, a colored-pencil Christmas book, dog comics for Dog Training Elite in Denver, engraving-style artwork for Casa Figlia packaging, watercolor and digital painted posters for Itsy, botanical repeat patterns, postcards and stationery, as well as a watercolor board game cover. I especially enjoy children’s book illustration, animals, nature, expressive characters and detailed narrative scenes. I’m comfortable working from an established art direction, but I can also develop a visual approach specifically for a new project. I work with digital illustration, watercolor, colored pencil, ink and pen, stippling, engraving-style linework and linocut-inspired techniques. I can adapt easily between realistic, semi-realistic, playful and more stylized work while keeping characters and artwork consistent across a full book or series. I don’t use generative AI for final artwork. My illustrations are created by me, from the first sketch to the finished image. I also enjoy long-term collaborations. Several of my projects have continued across multiple books or connected releases, which gives me the opportunity to understand the characters and visual world more deeply instead of treating every illustration as an isolated image. If you’re looking for an illustrator who can adapt to your project rather than forcing every project into the same style, feel free to send me your brief and references.
