Devene G.

There is nothing as special as the unique bond between a dog and its people. But sometimes it takes work for that bond to grow! One of my greatest pleasures in life is helping teach people how to make their bond stronger and make life better for both the dog and the human. I have more than 25 years of professional experience as a dog trainer, specializing in positive reinforcement methods, behavior modification, puppy development, and enrichment. Today, I work with pet dogs and their owners, helping them navigate everything from puppy foundations and basic manners to real-world behavior challenges. My background also includes raising and training puppies for scent-detection programs and extensive experience in greyhound rescue. I'm a Certified Professional Dog Trainer (CPDT-KA), a Fear Free Certified Trainer, and hold a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Michigan State University. My combination of practical canine expertise and professional writing allows me to create content that is accurate, engaging, and easy for readers to understand. My dog-focused writing has been published in "Walk About Magazine" and the Association of Professional Dog Trainers' "Top Tips From Top Trainers". I also write the Distracted Dog Lover blog, where I create educational resources that help neurodivergent dog owners build successful training habits through practical, force-free techniques. I enjoy creating: Blog articles Educational guides Website content SEO-friendly pet industry articles Puppy and training resources Behavior and enrichment content Product education and reviews Whether your audience consists of first-time puppy owners, experienced dog enthusiasts, or pet professionals, my goal is to provide trustworthy, science-based content that is both informative and enjoyable to read. If you're looking for a writer who brings both professional journalism skills and decades of real-world dog training experience, I'd love to help with your next project.
