Mechanical Design Engineer | SolidWorks CSWE | Sheet Metal & DFM
I'm a Certified SOLIDWORKS Expert (CSWE) and Mechanical Design Engineer with 16+ years of hands-on manufacturing experience. I specialize in SolidWorks, sheet metal, DFM, production-ready CAD, and mechanical product development. I help clients turn concepts, sketches, existing parts, drawings, or measurements into practical, manufacturable designs. My core services include: • Mechanical part and assembly design • Sheet metal enclosures, cabinets, brackets and fabricated assemblies • Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) • Production drawings, GD&T, tolerances and BOMs • Flat patterns, bend allowances, DXF/DWG and fabrication files • Reverse engineering from physical parts, measurements, photos and 3D scan data • 2D/PDF drawings → 3D CAD • 3D CAD → manufacturing drawings • Product development and prototyping • 3D-printing product design My engineering experience extends beyond CAD. I have practical experience with sheet metal fabrication, laser cutting, CNC punching, bending, welding, machining, prototyping and production. I have also worked with manufacturing and CAD/CAM tools including: • SOLIDWORKS / SOLIDWORKS Sheet Metal • AMADA SheetWorks • AMADA VPSS3i / VPSS3iE • CNCKAD • CypCut • AutoCAD • Autodesk Inventor • Mastercam / SolidCAM This manufacturing background helps me design parts that are not only accurate in CAD, but realistic and efficient to manufacture. I also have hands-on product development and 3D-printing experience. For one client, I developed 62 different 3D-printed products, taking designs from concept and CAD development through prototyping and design revisions. I operate a Bambu Lab P1S 3D printer in my workshop, giving me practical experience evaluating designs as physical prototypes rather than only as digital models. I also work on reverse-engineering projects where the original CAD is unavailable. I can work from 3D scan data, physical components, hand measurements, reference photographs, existing drawings, and legacy or damaged parts. My goal is to reconstruct functional, production-ready CAD rather than simply reproduce the visible geometry. If your project needs more than a CAD model — especially if the final design needs to be laser cut, punched, bent, welded, machined, assembled or prototyped — my combination of mechanical design and manufacturing experience can help take it from concept to production. Send me your drawings, sketches, photos, measurements, existing CAD files, or project requirements, and I can help determine the appropriate design and manufacturing approach.
