Technical Writer / Information Security Consultant
Personally, I strongly believe that the philosophy/principle of communication (sender-receiver-acknowledge) applies to 'Technical Writing'; reason being that communicating a technical item to an audience has to be done in an articulate and concise manner without missing the key message, which in itself is an art. That said, I am very passionate about technical writing, which dates back to my university days as an undergraduate bachelor’s Software Engineering student where my writing skills were horned through series of technical research reporting, and continued as I advanced my academics (CISMP, ISEB/ISQTB, Master’s, Doctorate, etc). However, prior to me refining my technical writing abilities in the university, I had always had the innate desire to write. My career in the Information Technology field is anchored on three areas, namely: Information Security, Software Testing and IT Compliance Audits, and as such, technical writing has been a mainstay of my career till date as all my roles (both previous and present) involve a lot of technical documentation and reporting, all of which need to be delivered to clients (internal and external) in a manner that is devoid of technical jargon, in other words - plain language. Some of the typical technical documentations that I often put together comprise of user manuals, work instructions, research reports, flow diagrams, technical audit reports, policy drafting, proof-of-concept (PoC) reports, just to mention but a few within agreed deadlines. I am currently the Chief Technical Director for an IT consulting firm based in the UK. Outside my day job, I am also a reviewer for a reputable online computer academic journal where I review information security academic papers. Since joining about a year ago, I have reviewed twelve (12) research papers of which six (6) of them have been published. Consequent upon all the aforementioned, I wish to offer my services with a view to us collaborating to deliver a fit-for-purpose product - technical document. Thanks.
