DTC Creative Strategist | Supplement, Wellness, & Natural Skincare
HOT TAKE: A lot of "high-converting" creatives only look good because of flashy edits. Take away the transitions, captions, dopamine cuts, and flashy motion graphics, and many of them wouldn't survive the first three seconds. Because a good editor can buy you one second. A good creative strategist earns the next ten. If you're still reading this... The hook worked. 🙂 People don't stop scrolling because an ad is beautifully edited. They stop because something makes them think: "Wait... that's me." That's what great direct response has always been about. Understanding people before writing copy. Hi, I'm Maria. I'm a DTC Creative Strategist and Direct Response Copywriter specializing in supplement, wellness, and natural skincare brands. I've spent years studying direct response because I've always been fascinated by one question: Why do some creatives stop people while others disappear into the feed? The answer is rarely editing. It's psychology. Positioning. Awareness. And understanding exactly who you're talking to. That's why my work starts with research—not copy. Before I write a single word, I want to understand: • Who is this customer? • What does their day actually look like? • What have they already tried? • What frustrations keep showing up? • What language do they naturally use? • What objections stop them from buying? Because demographics don't sell products. Understanding people does. Take a sleep supplement. Most brands say: "Supports better sleep." Technically correct. Completely forgettable. I'd rather understand who's buying it. The executive answering Slack messages at midnight. The ICU nurse coming off another rotating shift. The woman waking up every night during menopause. The exhausted new mom who can't remember the last time she slept through the night. They're all buying better sleep. But they're buying completely different outcomes. The same principle applies to skincare. I don't start with ingredients. I start with the person standing in front of the mirror. Because products stay the same. Customer stories don't. That's why I spend so much time developing audience personas and narrative frameworks. The more specific the story... The more relatable the creative becomes. And relatability earns attention. I'm also obsessed with reverse-engineering winning creatives. Not to copy them. To understand them. I study customer reviews, competitor ads, Meta Ads Library, TikTok Creative Center, AdSpy, Atria, comments, landing pages, advertorials, email funnels, market sophistication, awareness levels, and customer psychology. Then I ask: Why this hook? Why this angle? Why this visual? Why would this specific customer care? Because trends come and go. Human psychology doesn't. My work also doesn't stop at the ad. The ad earns the click. The landing page builds belief. The product page reinforces confidence. The emails continue the conversation. That's why I enjoy building complete customer journeys—not just individual assets. Creative strategy. Customer research. Messaging frameworks. Creative briefs. Meta creatives. Advertorials. Landing pages. Product pages. Klaviyo email flows. Creative testing roadmaps. Because when every touchpoint works together... Marketing becomes far more persuasive than any single ad ever could. If you're looking for someone to simply write Meta ads... I'm probably not the right fit. But if you're looking for someone who enjoys understanding customers, building audience-specific narratives, and creating creative systems that move people from first impression to purchase... I'd love to work with you. Feel free to explore my portfolio, resume, and creative strategy case studies. I'd love to show you how I think. Best, Maria
