Process Automation | Power Automate + Python
Chasing approvals, re-typing form responses, filing the same attachments, keying the same data into the same screen - all of that can run itself, in Microsoft Power Automate or in Python. These are two different jobs. Power Automate covers what lives inside Microsoft 365. Python covers everything outside it - old desktop software, SAP, sites with no way in - by working the application on screen the way a person would. Most specialists do one half and hand you to someone else for the other. You get both from one person, and a straight answer about which half your problem is in. 🔷 POWER AUTOMATE - for work inside Microsoft 365 Most of what businesses ask for runs on the Standard connectors you already pay for. Knowing where the Premium licence line sits often saves more than the project costs. • Approvals - routed to the right approver, decision recorded, requester told either way • Reminders and digests - scheduled chasers before a deadline, one summary instead of an inbox full of alerts • Document handling - attachments filed automatically into the right folder, named consistently • Form-to-record intake - submissions captured as tracked records, with an acknowledgement sent • Personalised bulk email - individual emails from a list or spreadsheet, not a mail-merge blast 🐍 PYTHON - for the systems nothing else can reach If a person can do it on screen, it can be automated - including old software that was never built to connect to anything. • Excel automation - large workbooks read, cleaned, merged and rebuilt on a schedule • Web automation with Selenium - form filling and data extraction on sites with no API • Desktop software, including SAP - typing and reading screens, no integration needed • API and system integration - two systems kept in step, including APIs that need a paid licence elsewhere • Bulk data processing - thousands of files or rows in one pass, with a log of what happened 🤝 HOW I WORK • Process first - I will tell you if a process should be fixed before it is automated. Automating a broken process just makes it fail faster. • The right tool, not my favourite - I build in both, so the recommendation costs me nothing either way. • Built to survive you - versioned, documented and handed over in plain English. Nothing stranded in one person's account, nothing only I can maintain. Tell me the task that is eating your week and I will tell you honestly whether it is worth automating, which tool fits, and roughly what it would take.
