I’m an experienced postdoctoral scientist with a research background spanning the chemical and life sciences. As a freelancer, I’ve written or edited many journal manuscripts, grant applications, newsletters and more. While in academia, I wrote or contributed to research grants for various funding bodies including BBSRC, MRC, EPSRC, Wellcome Trust and Cancer Research UK. My academic research career generated over 30 peer-reviewed journal articles (including 17 as first or last author), and also gave me considerable experience in writing/reviewing papers and grant applications. My academic publications span the areas of organic chemistry, biochemistry and drug discovery, and currently have over 1,000 combined citations (Google Scholar). I’ve regularly assisted Masters and PhD students with their dissertations by providing proofreading and mentoring services, so if you need support with your academic writing, I’d like to help! My main areas of scientific interest are biochemistry and molecular biology, enzymology, organic and medicinal chemistry, drug discovery, and screening assay design. From my wider reading, I have additional knowledge in DNA damage/repair, cell biology, biomedical science, cancer research and issues relating to diet and nutrition.
