Hardware Product Developer | 50+ Products, Idea to Mass Production
I take hardware from idea to shipped product: design, electronics, prototyping, certification, and manufacturing, all under one roof. Over the past decade I’ve brought 50+ products to market across medical, consumer, IoT, and aerospace. Most hardware projects don’t stall on the idea. They stall between a working prototype and a product a factory can build reliably, pass certification, and sell at a margin. That gap is where I do my best work. Recent highlights: Technical Project Director, international IoT company. Led a team of 7 developing 3 product lines from early prototype to industrial-scale production: a machinery vibration-health sensor, an elevator position and status sensor for predictive maintenance, and a multi-node warehouse sensor system with hubs and relays. Shipped 10,000+ units nationally and internationally while cutting lead time and cost. I negotiated contracts, approved engineering designs, set up manufacturing, and worked directly with end customers. Invented and launched a bike light that sold nearly 5,000 units. Medical and therapy devices, including a 3D-printed prosthetic finger and tubing systems. Aerospace: Led the team that launched a student CubeSat into orbit and built its ground station. What I bring to your project: Mechanical engineering & DFM: CAD, enclosure and part design, structures, materials selection, injection molding Electronics: Schematics, PCB design, component selection, firmware Rapid prototyping: My home manufacturing lab (CNC milling, resin and FDM 3D printing) lets me turn physical iterations in days, not weeks Certification: UL, CE, and FCC (including RF testing), ISO standards, FDA, and military standards Manufacturing & supply chain: Sourcing, contract negotiation, BOM and cost reduction, scaling from pilot builds to volume. I have an established network of manufacturers and designers to draw on. Project management: PMP-certified, experienced leading engineering teams and managing stakeholders Background: Aerospace Engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder, where my robotics teams won national competitions. How I work: I’m hands-on and direct. I’ll flag early if something won’t be manufacturable, won’t pass certification, or will cost more than you expect, and then help you find a version that will. I communicate clearly and document everything, and I work well both solo and embedded in your team. Whether you have a sketch, a prototype that needs to be production-ready, or a product stuck in manufacturing, send me a message. I’m happy to talk through it.
