Controller Accountant | Cleanup, Bookkeeping, Tax, Payroll & Reporting
I can step into businesses across a wide range of industries, figure out how the accounting should work, diagnose what is wrong, correct it, build the accounting function from scratch, or keep it running reliably. My work includes full-cycle accounting, QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, bookkeeping, payroll, tax preparation and review, financial reporting, forecasting, cleanup, systems, training, and controller-level support. I’m a controller-level accountant with 15+ years of hands-on experience and the owner of Bloss Financial Services, a full-time, owner-operated accounting practice. I work directly with my clients—there is no handoff to a junior accountant after the proposal. My work can start wherever you need it: **Review → Repair → Run → Improve.** ONGOING ACCOUNTING & CONTROLLER SUPPORT Not every client has broken books. Some just need an experienced person they can depend on every month. I can handle bookkeeping, AP/AR, reconciliations, payroll, month-end and year-end close, financial statements, management reporting, forecasting, budgeting, job costing, inventory, fixed assets, loans, accruals, sales tax, multi-state payroll, and controller-level review. I can take on one part of the function or serve as your outsourced accounting department. For startups, I can build the accounting function from scratch—software, chart of accounts, AP/AR, payroll, close procedures, reporting, controls, SOPs, and the structure needed as the company grows. ACCOUNTING DIAGNOSTICS, CLEANUP & RECONSTRUCTION You do not need to know what is wrong before contacting me. If the balance sheet looks strange, accounts will not reconcile, payroll does not match the GL, inventory or COGS is wrong, a tax return does not agree to the books, or you simply do not trust the numbers, I can trace the problem back to its source. I handle catch-up and multi-year cleanup, reconstruction, balance-sheet cleanup, loans and equity, payroll discrepancies, inventory/COGS/WIP, clearing accounts, integrations, and books-to-return tie-outs. I do not make an entry just because it makes an account balance. I want to know what actually happened, fix it correctly, and leave behind accounting that can be explained and supported later. TAX PREPARATION, SECOND-LOOK REVIEW & AMENDMENTS I prepare business and personal tax returns, and I also perform second-look reviews of returns that have already been prepared or filed. I can compare a return to the books, payroll, balance sheet, owner activity, depreciation, carryforwards, and supporting records to look for errors, omissions, inconsistencies, or numbers that do not make sense. If something is wrong, I can help correct the books and prepare an amended return when appropriate. My tax work includes individual and business returns, S corporations, Schedule C activity, books-to-return reconciliation, tax-ready cleanup, prior-year review, amendments, multi-year cleanup, and notice/discrepancy review. I hold an active IRS PTIN. LIVE ACCOUNTING & SOFTWARE TRAINING I also teach small-business owners and their teams using their actual books. This is not generic software training in a sample company. We work in YOUR books, with YOUR transactions, and focus on what YOU actually need to know. A service business does not need inventory training just because it is part of a standard QuickBooks course. A contractor may need job costing, WIP, payroll, and progress billing. An e-commerce business may need inventory, COGS, payment processors, and integrations. Another owner may need invoicing, expenses, payroll, reconciliations, and help understanding financial statements. I train in QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, and other accounting systems and explain both what to do and why it works that way. My background includes formal training work with the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue. REPORTING, SYSTEMS & PROCESS IMPROVEMENT Once the accounting is accurate, I can help make it useful. I build management reporting, forecasts, cash-flow models, budgets, Excel tools, Power BI dashboards, job-cost reporting, SOPs, controls, workflows, and reporting packages. I also work with software setup, migrations, integrations, and process improvement. My background spans manufacturing, construction, fintech, e-commerce, professional services, healthcare, transportation, startups, freelance writers and publishing, marketing and influencers, restaurants, and other owner-operated businesses. You may need one strange accounting problem diagnosed, years of books rebuilt, an accounting department created from zero, dependable ongoing accounting, a second look at a tax return, or someone to teach you how to handle your own books correctly. **I do more than find the problem. I stay to keep the accounting right.**
