Android TV & Fire TV Developer | Native Android (Kotlin) | Firestick
I build native Android apps for TVs and phones. Apps with real traffic: one has 450,000+ users on Fire TV and Android TV and has delivered over 1 million apps since May 2026. If you have a Firestick or Android TV app idea, a phone app that falls apart on a TV remote, or a store rejection you can't decode, you're in the right place. TV is its own planet. A screen that looks fine on a phone can trap a user who only has a D-pad. An app that installs perfectly on your test device can fail on one Fire OS version because of a single permission. A cheap streaming stick will crash an app your emulator loved. I've hit these problems in production, at scale, and solved them. RECENT WORK (native Android apps built for a cord-cutting YouTube brand) LinkDrop: a sideload app store for Fire TV and Android TV. Users type a short code or scan a QR code, and the app installs. 450,000+ users, 100,000+ every month since July, 1M+ apps delivered, about 70% on Amazon Fire TV. TvWiz: a guided setup app for new Fire TV and Google TV devices. It handles permissions, installs and device checks so non-technical users don't get stuck. 300,000+ completed setups since May 2026. Browsy: an Android TV browser and download manager on Google Play. Over 40,000 new users from July to October 2026, 13,000+ monthly active users and a 4.6-star rating. WHAT I CAN BUILD OR FIX FOR YOU - Fire TV, Firestick, Android TV and Google TV apps in Kotlin - Native Android phone apps (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose) - D-pad navigation and focus that feels natural from the couch - Video playback with Media3 / ExoPlayer - Sideload distribution: APK hosting on a CDN, download codes, in-app updates - Amazon Appstore and Google Play submissions, including rejections - Keeping TV apps current: Compose for TV migration, 64-bit builds, Fire OS 16 and Android 16 changes - Analytics and funnels (PostHog, Mixpanel) so you can see where users drop off - Porting an existing Android phone app to the big screen HOW I WORK You get a test build you can sideload on your own Firestick early, then regular builds after that. Analytics go in from day one, so launch day comes with numbers, not guesses. Updates in plain English. I'm based in Abuja, Nigeria. The apps I build mostly serve users in the US and UK, so working across time zones is normal for me. So, what are we putting on the big screen?
