I am a professional editor, historian, and writer with an Ivy League PhD (in history) and more than five years of experience teaching writing at the college level. For the past six years or so, I have split my time working as an editor supporting other writers and serving as a consulting historian. In my career, I have worked with both individual authors (both academic and non-academic, professional and amateur) as well as large institutional clients such as the Library of Congress and Citigroup. As an editor, I have helped authors at every stage of their process, from developmental editing to copy editing to the final proofread. I have deep familiarity with both Chicago and APA style citation and formatting standards and am adept at using both MS Office suite and Google Docs products for layout, formatting, and preparing manuscripts. As a researcher and writer, my freelance work has included writing 10,000-word community histories in support of historic preservation surveys, conducting primary source research and interviews to craft a 25,000-word history of Citigroup's Municipal Securities Division, and serving as a fact and citation checker. I have deep experience working with both online and physical archives and frequently work with both images and text-based sources.
