Fixed-Term Lecturer in Philosophy at the University of Essex in the UK, with experience teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. I have taught modules in social and political philosophy, critical theory, political economy, metaphysics and epistemology, 19th and 20th-century European philosophy, ancient Greek and Christian philosophy. I also have extensive experience as a freelance proofreader and copy-editor on platforms such as Superprof, Lex Academic and Upwork. In addition to this freelance work, I have experience running my own writing workshops aimed at providing university students with continuous guidance and feedback on their writing. Based on my experience and expertise, I offer both: 1) ACADEMIC TUTORING AND WRITING SUPPORT This can take various forms depending on your specific learning needs: • Tutorial-style lessons in specific subject areas in philosophy or philosophy-adjacent disciplines (e.g. social and political theory), helping introduce you to, or deepen your understanding of, key concepts and theories, or do an in-depth study of a particular text. If you are interested less in a particular area of philosophy than in developing a particular philosophical skill (e.g. critical thinking and argumentation) I can design a session specifically tailored to this. • If you have a specific assignment or writing project, I can also offer support at any one stage of the writing process – from early planning, drafting and guidance on secondary literature to general argumentative structure and stylistic guidance; 2) PROOFREADING & COPYEDITING I can help with proofreading and copyediting both academic and non-academic texts, to whatever degree of editorial intervention is necessary – from light proofreading and checking for typos to thorough structural and stylistic revisions. I tailor my editorial approach to the unique style and specific aims of each individual piece of writing I am tasked to assist with.
