BIO: I am a full-time freelance video colorist. These days I mostly work with short forms like commercials and music videos, but not limited to and can also take projects of short films, documentaries, feature films and other forms. SERVICES: 1) Basic Color Correction and shot matching (to make the whole project look consistent) 2) Color Grading (to add the needed mood, which supports narrative of the project) 3) LIVE grading sessions with live streaming over Zoom (During such session we chose reference frames and develop overall look as well as it's variations for scenes if needed. Later on the whole piece will be matched to those reference shots.) 4) Video upscaling and enhancement using AI technologies HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE: Software: Davinci Resolve Studio exclusively Hardware: 1) Davinci Resolve Mini panel for speed and precision 2) Professionally calibrated OLED panel as a reference monitor 3) Properly set Dark Room with 18% neutral grey surroundings and 6500k high CRI bias lighting to be color critical. 4) Gigabyte internet connection for fast footage and deliverables exchange. COLORIST’s ROLE AT THE PROJECT: Cameras see much more information than a regular monitor can properly show us in normalized manner, so we have to transform and adopt digital images in a desired way using the knowledge in color science of cameras and viewing devices. Also we usually want to make an accents at certain points of the image, make them look more tasty or fix something, which could not be done on set or has not been seen. Also we strive to pass some feeling to the viewer so the video look as a complete piece of art, which combines context, sound, music, look and feel. For all these purposes we use a Color Correction and Color Grading, which is done not because we just want to change something for no reason, but to solve the challenge of how to make your video work best for the viewer's perception. There are several steps in achieving a great result in terms of color: 1) Basic correction - we normalize image in term of brightness, contrast, temperature and tint as well as we match cameras to each other. 2) Secondary corrections - at this stage we might be playing with masks in order to relight the scene slightly, hide or accent objects, fix lighting issues on set or just recolor to our liking. 3) Working with the details, removing noise or adding grain, stylizing shot, adding film effects such as halation or glow etc. As a color artists we start from broad corrections and layer after layer we form the final look, which has to strengthen the image and the context of video.
