James K.
Electrical CAD Design Engineer
I design electrical systems and lighting layouts in AutoCAD, Revit, and DIAlux drawings that go from load calculations to construction-ready sheets, not just conceptual studies. My background is power systems engineering (MEng Distinction, BEng First Class Honours, MIET), and I work comfortably across both US and international design conventions, NEC for US-based projects, IEC/BS wiring regulations for UK/Commonwealth and East African work, plus ISO and IEEE standards more broadly. That range comes from where I've trained and worked: Glasgow Caledonian University (UK curriculum), practice in Mauritius and Kenya (IEC/BS), and US-standard residential modeling in Revit. Recent work includes: Photometric and lighting design. DIAlux lux-level analysis and luminaire layouts for residential, commercial, and industrial projects in Mauritius, including a full apartment interior fit-out at Tatu City, Kenya AutoCAD electrical drawings. Power layouts and combined lighting/fire alarm layouts for office buildings, with proper sheet numbering and discipline conventions Revit MEP modeling, a full residential electrical build-out (US/NEC standard) with lighting and power floor plans, circuiting, and panel schedules, alongside IEC-standard lighting layouts with detailed fixture legends and switch/circuit notation for East African projects Software: AutoCAD, Revit, DIAlux, BlueBeam, ETAP, Power World, MATLAB Simulink. I document clearly, follow drawing standards for the market I'm designing in, and I'll tell you directly if a design input doesn't check out rather than quietly working around it.
