Senior Mobile Architect | AI, iOS, Android & Flutter
I've shipped mobile apps used by hundreds of thousands of people — including the Android build of ParkNYC (180,000+ monthly active users) and a Hong Kong parking app integrating nine separate payment systems, both as part of an five-year run building for Flowbird Group's mobility platform. I work with funded startups, SaaS teams, and founders who need one senior engineer to own a complex mobile product end-to-end — not a team of five juniors who need managing. Typical engagements: taking ownership of an existing app that's outgrown its original architecture, building a new product where the technical decisions in month one determine whether you're still maintainable in year two, or acting as the senior technical partner a non-technical founder needs before their next fundraise. What I actually do: * Native iOS (Swift, SwiftUI) and native Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose), built to platform-native standards — not cross-platform compromises dressed up as native. * Flutter, when cross-platform genuinely serves the product — including one build where the client's own QA team couldn't tell it apart from platform-native apps in blind testing. * Full-stack ownership: backend APIs (Swift Vapor), Firebase and PostgreSQL architecture, CI/CD and release automation, so "ship it" doesn't depend on someone else's pipeline. * On-device AI integration — Apple's Foundation Models framework and Android's Gemini Nano/AICore — for teams that want AI features without cloud-inference costs or sending user data off-device. * Accessibility engineering — hands-on TalkBack and VoiceOver implementation to WCAG 2.2 AA, for teams that need to close real compliance exposure, not just add an accessibility statement. * Mobile security and privacy architecture, informed by years of building payment and identity flows for regulated markets. I don't take on every project that fits my skill list. I take on projects where ownership matters — where you need someone who'll flag the architectural decision that'll bite you in eight months, not just complete the ticket in front of them. If that's what you're hiring for, let's talk about what you're building.
