Mahnoor M.

I’m a book editor working with fiction, nonfiction, and AI assisted manuscripts. Whether you’ve written your book entirely yourself or used AI along the way, I help turn your draft into clear, polished, reader ready writing while preserving your voice, ideas, and message. I work across a wide range of genres, from novels and memoirs to business, self help, personal development, psychology, parenting, children’s and educational books, as well as workbooks, journals, and other long form projects. Here’s what the approach looks like in practice: • Developmental editing: Strengthening the bigger picture, from structure and chapter flow to clarity and making sure the ideas hold together from beginning to end. • Line editing: Smoothing out wording, rhythm, tone, and readability while keeping the writing true to your voice. • Copy editing: Cleaning up grammar, punctuation, sentence structure, consistency, and style, with attention to the Chicago Manual of Style when required. • Proofreading: Giving the manuscript a final careful pass to catch typos, inconsistencies, formatting issues, and other small errors before publication. I don’t treat every manuscript the same. The book editing depends on the genre, the writing, and what the author is trying to achieve. For nonfiction, I focus on clarity, structure, logic, repetition, transitions, terminology, consistency, and reader engagement. I tighten the writing where needed, clarify complex ideas, and improve the flow without changing the author’s intended message. For fiction, I focus on prose, pacing, dialogue, consistency, readability, and voice. I edit with restraint because the goal isn’t to make every book sound the same. It’s to strengthen the author’s existing style while making the reading experience smoother. AI assisted manuscripts require another layer of editorial judgment. A manuscript can be grammatically correct and still feel generic, repetitive, overly polished, or disconnected from the author’s natural voice. I look closely at sentence patterns, phrasing, repetition, transitions, rhythm, and consistency, then make thoughtful revisions rather than simply replacing words or running the manuscript through another rewriting tool. I work in MS Word using Track Changes, so you can see exactly what has been changed and why. I can also provide a clean final version when you’re ready to move forward. Whether you’re revising a first draft, preparing a manuscript for publication, or trying to bring an AI assisted book closer to your own voice, I’ll help you strengthen the writing while keeping the book yours.
