Editor and writer with experience in an award-winning publisher

Hello! Welcome to my profile. I have been a freelance editor for six years, gaining experience on various sites and building a portfolio of authors I love to champion. I also worked at Sweet Cherry, an award-winning independent children's publisher, for over two years. I started as a junior editor and was then promoted to developmental editor. I led multiple projects in both roles – fiction, non-fiction, author-led and IP. Having worked in a fast-paced environment where I alone was responsible for up to thirty books at a time, I am adept at working quickly and efficiently without sacrificing attention to detail. I am experienced with the entire publishing process and all editorial processes: developmental editing, structural editing, line editing, copyediting and proofreading. While I do not have as much experience with adult books compared to children's books, my skills are easily transferable. As well as having a strong editorial background, I am also a freelance writer. I wrote the Hockey Legends set for Sweet Cherry and have adapted other titles for Every Cherry (an imprint intended for SEND readers). Being able to experience what it is like on both sides of the traditional publishing process means I am able to give even better author care. I have also written advice articles for The Writer’s Circus – a website for writers. Some of my poetry has been published in literary magazines too, inspiring me to start my own literary magazine, Toil & Trouble, to celebrate more writers and connect through storytelling.
