I am a postdoctoral researcher at Michigan State University and a Courtesy Senior Research Associate I at the University of Oregon. I serve as President of the Society for Conservation Biology North America, the Brazilian Association of Ecological Science and Conservation, and the Brazilian Chapter of the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), where I also act as Regional Member Representative for Latin America. In addition, I co-founded and lead the Kunhã Asé Network of Women in Science and serve as a Council Member of the European Society for Evolutionary Biology. I am a member of the Global Young Academy, where I co-lead Theme 2 (Science and Research Ecosystems) and contribute to the Addressing Systemic Discrimination Committee and the Open Science group. I coordinate the Laboratory of (Bio)Diversity in the Anthropocene (BioDivA Lab), a decentralized research network mentoring over 70 students from undergraduate to Ph.D. levels. The lab focuses on: (1) impacts of human activities on socio-ecological systems; (2) science governance and diplomacy; and (3) ethnobiology and human–nature relationships from a transdisciplinary perspective.
