Juan Nazareno F.
Senior Full-Stack Engineer | Software Architect | AI Products
Fifteen years building web software. These days I build it with AI doing most of the typing, which is why I can take on work that used to need a team. Most of my work looks like this: a company has a product that outgrew whatever it was built on, or has no product yet and a fairly clear idea of what it needs. I come in, model the domain properly with the people who understand the business, decide the architecture and then build it. Database up to interface, plus the boring half nobody puts in the proposal - deploys, backups, monitoring and being the one who gets the call when it breaks at 2am. Right now I am building the platform that replaces an off-the-shelf system at a company serving insurance brokers, and I am the person the non-technical side of another company, working across Spain, the UK and the US, comes to when something has to be decided or built. Before those two: scalable applications for an education company in Spain and Mexico, assessment platforms at the Ministry of Education here in Argentina and a couple of years integrating digital platforms and server infrastructure for a stock market firm. Further back there is a media holding with news, radio, magazines and TV, plus delivery work out of Costa Rica. Day to day I work in TypeScript: React, Next.js, TanStack Start on the front, Node with Fastify or NestJS on the back, PostgreSQL or MySQL underneath with Drizzle or Prisma, Redis and BullMQ when there are queues, Tailwind and shadcn for the interface. I also still take PHP work when it is Laravel or Symfony, and I have written enough Python and a bit of Rust. React Native and Expo when it has to be an app, Electron when it has to be a desktop one. On the product side I have shipped RAG over pgvector, chatbots that hold up in production, structured output pipelines against the Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini APIs. My own toolchain is Claude Code with custom MCP servers, subagents and automated review in CI, tuned over a couple of years to the point where the speed does not cost me quality. Infrastructure I handle myself. Linux servers, NGINX, Docker, GitHub Actions or GitLab CI, zero-downtime deploys, encrypted backups with offsite copies, Uptime Kuma and Sentry watching. I have done the capacity planning and the firewall rules and the 3am restore, so I know what a promise about uptime actually costs. Two things worth knowing before you hire me. I will tell you when something you asked for is going to cost more than it is worth, and I would rather have that conversation in week one than in month four. And I write code assuming someone else reads it next, which sometimes means an afternoon spent on structure that looks like nothing got done. I am not looking for a management seat. I have run teams and I can talk to your stakeholders, but the work I want is the building. Spanish is my first language, my English is advanced and I get by well in Portuguese. I am based in Buenos Aires and most of my career has been with teams in Spain, the UK, the US, Mexico and Costa Rica, so the time zones and the remote part are nothing new.
