Over the years I've dropped into existing products and opened my first PR within the first week. That is the backend depth you're after, with no months of onboarding. I communicate clearly and handle the Python side end to end: services, the data layer, and the RAG or agent pieces if your product has them. Every AI agent and automation project in my Upwork history has a 5-star rating, and clients call out my understanding of AI agent architecture and APIs, plus "clear communication throughout the project." Among them was a secure self-hosted OpenClaw agent environment built for day-to-day company operations. I'm currently 1,100+ hours into a long-term engagement with one client. I build backends with FastAPI or Django, backed by PostgreSQL or Redis. If a feature needs AI, I put together a RAG pipeline (embeddings stored in a vector database, retrieval ahead of the model call) or an agent with a defined set of tools, rather than a raw prompt in a loop. In both cases it lives behind a proper API and a queue, and I test and deploy it the same way as the rest of the service. It never ends up as a notebook bolted on afterward.
