With my in-depth knowledge of D&I trends and strategies, my background as a facilitator and trainer, plus my hands-on work ethic I believe I could aid the ECAS to the reach its objective ofcreating, implementing and monitoring an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Strategy and Action plan. Throughout my professional career I have committed myself in different areas, from youth empowerment and LGBT+ rights to anti-racism and sexual and gender-based violence. From co-founding an NGO that works with Black and of colour LGBT+ persons, contributing to the UN ECRI reports in Belgium and being a part of the NAPAR coalition, I believe that my experience in local and European contexts speaks for itself. Consequentially I feel that I could adequately fulfill the expectations of the position listed whilst remaining challenged and acquiring a better comprehension of the ECAS. In addition to the abovementioned points, I believe I am a strong fit for this position due to my relevant set of skills and experiences: - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; which I acquired through not only my early engagements in youth organisations but also in my past positions as a director at the Rainbowhouse Brussels and The Belgian Pride. In these positions I have been able to build an existing network with legislators on local and EU level. Furthermore, through my facilitation work on a European level I have been able to sustain a good working relationship with stakeholders such as grassroots organisations and EU cabinets (European Commissioner Dalli’s cabinet, EU Anti-racism coordinator, Michael Moua). - Experience in promoting non-discrimination: As a trainer and facilitator I continuously promote equality and equity which includes fairness, opportunity and last but not least, intersectionality. I continue to monitor EU legislation, plans and framework with regards to gender equality, racial discrimination, and victims’ rights. Through my work as a workshop facilitator, I also share and acquire best case practices in mainstreaming and ensuring gender equality, diversity, non-discrimination in corporations as well as non-profit organisations. - A methodological and precise approach to work; rooted in my professional background and my experience as a director at The Belgian Pride. This has resulted in my continuous commitment to pursuing efficiency whilst achieving results. Additionally, I can adapt to unforeseen situations and quickly find adequate solutions that benefit all parties. - My commitment to continuous learning and self-improvement; as demonstrated by my participation in activities such as volunteering for (youth) organisations (Rainbow Nation and ADYFE) and my commitment to continuous learning. Currently I’m learning Portuguese and American Sign Language. An ability to multitask and manage diverse workloads, such as providing administrative support, event management whist also providing support for other colleagues.
