Myra H.

It is lovely to meet you, and I am keen to help with all research, writing, and editorial needs. I am especially interested in helping to tell personal stories. I am an historian by both training and profession. For two decades, I have studied legal, political, and rhetorical histories, and I have often used biography as a lens into these. I have decided to bring this experience to Upwork in order to better serve people who wish to write about their lives and world. In this process of my research, I have worked with families and individuals to help them tell their stories, often including difficult retelling. I excel in helping the individual story to shine while also contextualizing it within a bigger picture. My additional strengths lie in research and argument crafting, as well as all stages of the writing process--from drafts to writing to copy-editing and proofreading. Much of my work has focused on telling and helping to tell very personal and often sensitive stories. I have also written dozens of successful grant applications to fund my work and can assist you with your applications as well. I am primarily a writer, but I also serve as a reviewer and an editor for academic presses. I have experience in writing for academic audiences as well as for the general public. I am keen to help make your work more appealing, readable, and public facing. I have worked internationally and in the US, so I enjoy assisting with cultural translation. My experience includes planning and leading international study opportunities, and I hope to bring these travel planning skills to my Upwork clients. While my particular interests lie within these fields, I look forward to working outside of them as well. Additionally, I am a college professor so am well trained and equipped to coach writers toward specific goals in a way that is accessible and easy to understand. Overall, I hope to help you craft more engaging interactions with the world around you during whatever stage you need.
