Writer and Editor, PhD in Literature

I am a writer and editor with experience in both academic and popular writing, including ghostwriting. I have served as an editor for academic texts of varying levels and varying fields, including dissertations in the natural sciences and humanities. I have also edited MA papers, graduate school admissions, journal articles, and papers for coursework. I have worked on texts across fields, including Neuroscience, Sociology, Literature, History, Poetics, Psychology, and Theology. I have ghostwritten over a twenty-five novels, primarily in Romance (all sub-genres) and Women's Fiction, and have worked as a developmental editor on several Romance and Literary Fiction novels. I have a PhD in English from the University of California, Irvine, where I spent nearly a decade working as a writing teacher (grades 5-undergraduate). I designed courses for classes across this age range and can offer pedagogical insight into any instructional design projects, whether aimed at children or adults. I designed classes on genre and rhetoric, argument and structure, and specific literary fields, such as 19th century American Literature, Young Adult Literature, and True Crime. I am an experienced researcher and fact-checker with a comprehensive background in reading academic texts. During my time in graduate school, I spent seven years working as an application essays specialist for a college prep organization; during this time, I edited college, graduate school, and professional school applications (including medical school, veterinary school, and law school) for students that ended up at a variety of elite organizations. I also work as a writing consultant for a prominent NGO, where I work with subject matter experts to ensure that all public-facing materials adhere to brand guidelines, even when they are created by authors in different fields. I have also worked in publishing, and I read and review books for acquisitions at an independent bookstore in Pennsylvania.
