Most job cost reports can look right and still be quietly wrong. I build QuickBooks reporting that ties back to QuickBooks' own figures to the cent on every run, so the numbers are checkable, not just plausible. On a recent build that meant pulling an 85 line bill spread across 74 projects line by line through the API so each cost landed on its own job, and catching labor and income that were posting to two differently named records and would otherwise never meet in a report. That rigor comes from building for myself first. I built the systems that ran my own business as it grew about 11x, to roughly $150K a year in revenue, on QuickBooks online integrations, financial dashboards, and AI workflows doing the heavy lifting, with no extra headcount. I bring the same backbone to clients: an accountant by training, 12+ years in Google Sheets and Apps Script, with AI wired in properly.
