Has a manufacturer sent you a supplement formula, but you're unsure whether the ingredients, dosages and claims are scientifically justified? Perhaps you're developing a gummy, capsule or botanical supplement and need an independent formulation review before production. Or you need a second opinion on a Supplement Facts panel, ingredient specification or Certificate of Analysis (COA). I'm a Food Scientist with an MSc in Food Science & Technology and commercial New Product Development (NPD) experience. I help supplement brands evaluate product formulations, ingredient efficacy, scientific evidence and regulatory compliance. My experience includes botanical supplements, gummies, ingredient evaluations and FDA label reviews. My research on proteins and bioactive compounds also informs my assessment of nutritional ingredients such as collagen peptides and protein hydrolysates. HOW I CAN HELP 1. SUPPLEMENT FORMULATION REVIEW & PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT I review proposed or existing supplement formulas, including ingredient forms, quantities, dosage rationale, compatibility and formulation feasibility. For gummy, capsule and other supplement formats, I flag product stability considerations and questions that need testing or manufacturer confirmation. Deliverable: A documented formulation assessment with findings, recommendations and outstanding technical questions. 2. INGREDIENT EFFICACY, DOSAGE & SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE I examine published scientific literature to assess whether an ingredient's form, dose and proposed benefits are supported by relevant research. Reviews can include botanical extracts, functional ingredients and nutritional bioactives, including collagen peptides. Deliverable: An evidence-based ingredient and dosage assessment explaining the strength and limitations of the research. 3. FDA / UK / EU SUPPLEMENT LABEL & HEALTH CLAIMS REVIEW I review supplement labels, ingredient declarations and proposed marketing claims within an agreed market-specific scope. For US dietary supplements, this may include Supplement Facts and FDA structure/function claims. For Great Britain, I assess relevant food supplement labelling, health claims and ASA/CAP advertising guidance; Northern Ireland and EU requirements are considered separately. Deliverable: A label and claims compliance review identifying concerns, suggested corrections and matters requiring further verification. 4. COA ANALYSIS, INGREDIENT SPECIFICATIONS & GMP DOCUMENTATION I assess Certificates of Analysis, ingredient specifications and relevant Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) records for gaps, inconsistent results, ingredient identity, potency and specification concerns. Deliverable: A technical documentation review with findings and questions to resolve with your manufacturer. Supplier sourcing, procurement and product-registration administration are not part of my services.
