I am an experienced consultant and attorney who spent the first ten years of my career focused on all aspects of Employee Benefit Plan compliance. My practice was highly regulatory (with an emphasis on Internal Revenue Service and Department of Labor compliance) and required complex analytical skills. After taking time out of the workforce to raise a family, I returned ten years ago to found a snack food start-up company. As the sole owner, I was responsible for all aspects of the business -- from product concept and development to product manufacturing, marketing, sales (including e-commerce) and legal compliance. Contracts governed every aspect of my business, and really honed my focus on how every detail might impact my business in the short, mid and long term. Since joining Upwork in the Summer of 2023, I have been providing a broad range of business consulting services to clients across multiple industries, including sales, personal services, manufacturing, consulting, medical, entertainment (e.g., influencer and author) and real estate. I have particularly enjoyed ongoing professional relationships with my small to mid-sized clients as their business needs evolve. On personal note, I have served on the Boards of four nonprofit organizations in the Kansas City Metropolitan area over the past 20 years.
