Grant Writer & Research Strategist | Nonprofit & SBIR Specialist

If you’re looking for a yes woman, I’m probably not your girl. Part of my job is helping my nonprofit clients look past the dollar signs and decide whether a grant opportunity is really worth pursuing. More often than not, you’ll hear me asking, “Okay, but why this grant?” And if the whole answer is, “We need the funding,” I’m going to push back. I mean, who doesn’t need funding? (Allow me a few paragraphs to make my point. I am a writer after all…) Recently, I completed a funding strategy for a client where I reviewed more than 300 grant opportunities. I researched funding priorities, dug into giving history, looked at past awards, and double-checked 990s. I looked at all👏the👏things.👏 And after all that? My final shortlist of viable grant opportunities had, drumroll please… TWO grants on it. Two. Out of 300+. Could I have made the list longer? Absolutely. I could have handed over 15 grants and said, “Look at all these dollar signs!” And as the person who is often hired to write the grants I find, more applications could mean more work for me. But that’s not the point of a funding strategy. My job isn’t to keep you chasing your tail. It’s to help you decide where your limited time, energy, and resources have the best chance of paying off. Every grant you pursue costs something. There’s the research, meetings, emails, budgets, attachments, edits, approvals, and the inevitable hunt for that ONE document you swear someone sent you six months ago. There’s also the headspace. You know, the application sitting in the back of your mind while you’re trying to do the 47 other things your organization needs from you. That’s a lot to spend on a “maybe.” I’m not here to help my clients chase every available dollar. I’m here to help them know which dollars are worth chasing! Here are my Fun-Facts: ● Developed 150+ grant proposals for Churches, INGOs, and NGOs. ● Mapped $3M+ in donor funding opportunities. ● Conducted 200+ grant funding research assignments. ● Supported 75+ project designs (logframes, results frameworks). ● Declared among the Top 35 Global Youth Leaders by UNESCO. I have worked across diverse areas in the non-profit sector, including gender equality, education, climate change, disaster risk reduction, youth empowerment, and social development. My experience includes supporting organizations and initiatives working with global partners such as UN agencies, World Bank–linked programs, GIZ, and international NGOs.
