Alyson S.
Grant Writer & Storyteller | Psych-Savvy, Mission-Driven, Snack-Fueled
In college, people used to ask, “So… what are you going to do with an English degree?” Well, here we are: I’m an accomplished grant writer with a B.A. in English, an M.S. in Forensic Psychology, and a track record of helping nonprofits turn passion into funding. Since 2019, I’ve secured over $700,000 in grants from state agencies, private foundations, and family funders — including both new proposals and multi-year renewals. I typically write 2–3 proposals a month in my full-time role (which I love and am happily keeping), and now have the bandwidth to take on a few select freelance clients. My specialty? Youth-serving and mission-driven programs, especially those working at the intersection of education, mental wellness, SEL, and equity. But if you’ve got a powerful mission and a clear need, I’m all ears. My approach goes far beyond stringing together nice-sounding sentences. I write proposals that feel human, speak funders’ language, and reflect the real heart of the work. Ideally, the funder’s response is: “Um, yes. Here’s a check.” Let’s connect and see how I can help you get there.
