IEEPA Duty Refunds, Classification, Steel / Aluminum / Copper
Over 15 years of experience in international logistics and global trade compliance. I worked in the automotive industry managing global trade compliance groups for North America, I have worked with just about every major customs broker there is. I have much experience importing/exporting with North America, CN, Brazil, EU, JP and much knowledge with export controls, classifications, duty savings, certifications, customs flagging FDA/EPA/PGA/TSCA, etc. Recent Freelance Projects- Was able to get client a duty refund check from US Customs in the amount of almost $330,000. Client requested that I analyze their customs activities because they could not continue to afford the duties and taxes they were spending importing into the USA from CA. After analyzing BOMs from suppliers, I pulled all commodities that were eligible for the free trade agreement USMCA, obtained certs from supplier and worked with their brokers to request refund for the duty that was paid. 6 months later, customs sent a check and refunded the duty that was paid for the previous 24 months. Another job recently completed, company was using 6 different forwarders, importing from 7 different countries, using ports in CA/US/MX, utilizing 4 different domestic trucking companies, and 12 warehouses scattered throughout the US. They were looking to get 1 solid file with clean data for tracking purposes, I created a database that housed all data, with the push of a button they are now able to see 1 file with clean tracking data, including where it was currently located, where it is held up, MOT, current status, LFD, etc. I went one step forward and gave them the option to sort by client or commodity or warehouse.
