Victor I.
Mechanical Design Engineer | SolidWorks | Redesign for Manufacturing
Most of my clients come to me with something that already exists: a prototype that rattles, a part the factory keeps pushing back on, drawings from an engineer who disappeared. I find what is actually wrong, fix it in SolidWorks, and hand you files your manufacturer can quote and build without a single call back to you. I'm a mechanical engineer (CSWA and CSWP certified, First Class B.Sc. Mechanical Engineering) with over 5 years of designing products for manufacture, and I currently work as a Mechanical Design Engineer at a built-environment consultancy. What I can help with - Redesign and fix for manufacturing: parts that fail, wear, misfit or cost too much to make - Production drawings for CNC, sheet metal, injection molding and 3D printing, with GD&T, fits and tolerance stacks - Full parametric SolidWorks assemblies, STEP files and BOMs with real off-the-shelf hardware - FEA (static, deformation, fatigue) to check a design before you pay for a prototype - AutoCAD drafting, office standards and tool palette customization Recent work - Human measuring device: the factory had problems with parts designed by a previous engineer. I worked out simple manufacturing fixes, redesigned the affected parts and updated the full drawing package. - Label applicator feed roller clamp: designing a cam lift-off clamp for a production labelling machine, with a modular assembly, a full production drawing set and a parts list. - AutoCAD office standards: rebuilt a firm's profile, tool palettes, block pathing and scheduling. They have hired me again since. "The Profile that Victor created in AutoCAD was a difficult customization that required pathing of all our existing office standards, blocks, tagging, and scheduling. Victor accomplished all with complete understanding of AutoCAD operations and set up." How I work 1. You send your files, photos or sketches. I reply with the main risks and how I'd approach it. 2. We agree a small first milestone, often a concept, a diagnosis or a 3D-printed fit check, so you can see my work before committing to the full job. 3. I share progress at every milestone with a written timeline, and if a date is ever at risk you hear it from me before it slips. 4. You get native SolidWorks files, STEP, PDF drawings and a change log explaining every decision. Send me what you have, even if it's just a photo of the part that keeps failing, and I'll tell you what I'd do with it.
