Brenda G.
Academic Copy Editor | Grammarly Expert Writer
I am a native English speaker and a pernickety teacher at heart. I am experienced in English teaching, writing, and copy editing, having edited many master's dissertations, PhD theses, journal articles and book chapters over the last five years. The power and structure and structure of the written word excites me, but importantly too, I am passionate about the correctness of language. In my role as your copy editor, I want to polish your work until it shines. My experience in this field arises from writing and editing my PhD. This was invaluable in preparing me for the role of academic copy editor. As an academic myself, I love gaining new insights and knowledge from my work. I find academic writing fascinating, be it in the field of humanities, education or law. I have also completed a comprehensive Diploma in Editing from the University of Cape Town (GetSmarter) I therefore: • specialise in academic editing in the fields of education, humanities, and social sciences • edit spelling, grammar, and punctuation • check sentence structure, formatting, headings for flow, readability and comprehension • copy-edit references and citations • automation of page numbers, figures and tables, table of contents
