Pet Product Launch Consultant | Formulation, CDMO Sourcing, Regulatory

I help pet brands turn pet supplement and treat ideas into commercially viable products. From concept and formulation to compliance, manufacturing, palatability testing, and launch, I help companies navigate what it actually takes to bring a dog, cat, or equine supplement, functional treat, topper, or wellness product to market. I'm a Certified Veterinary Technician and pet industry product development consultant with 20+ years of experience spanning formulation, product development, regulatory/compliance, manufacturing, brand management, and retail commercialization. My background includes GNC Pets, the National Animal Supplement Council (NASC), and Green Mountain Animal Health/Complete Pet (pet supplement/treat contract manufacturer), including product development and brand management supporting 200+ SKUs sold through PetSmart. Most clients come to me because they need more than someone who can create a formula. They need someone who understands whether that formula can actually be manufactured, accepted by pets, labeled appropriately, scaled, and sold. -How I Can Help- • Product concept development & feasibility • Pet supplement & functional treat formulation • Competitor Analysis • Formula review, reformulation & troubleshooting • Ingredient selection & sourcing • Structured in-home dog & cat palatability testing • AAFCO/NASC compliance considerations • Label, ingredient panel & product claim review • Soft chews, powders, capsules, treats & toppers • Manufacturer/CDMO identification & sourcing • Product specifications & manufacturing documentation • Cost & commercialization considerations • Product line extensions & portfolio development -A Great Formula Doesn't Matter If Pets Won't Eat It.- One capability that sets us apart is structured palatability testing with our own panel of dogs and cats living in real homes. We can evaluate prototypes for initial acceptance, consumption, repeat acceptance, preference between formulations, ease of administration, and owner observations. This gives brands structured, real-world feedback from actual household pets before committing to a final formula or larger production run—helping identify palatability problems while they're still easier and less expensive to fix. -Why Clients Hire Me- End-to-end product development: I don't just formulate. I consider manufacturing constraints, ingredient availability, cost, compliance, palatability, positioning, and commercialization. Real pet-industry experience: I've worked on the brand side developing and managing commercial pet products, including 200+ SKUs sold online and in major retailers. Industry connections: I bring an established network of contract manufacturers, CDMOs, ingredient suppliers, brokers and other pet-industry partners to help move projects forward. Animal-health perspective: As a Certified Veterinary Technician, I combine practical animal-health knowledge with two decades of pet product development experience. -Additional Formulation Expertise- In addition to my own experience, I work closely with other industry consultants, including a PCQI-certified formulator with 20+ years of pet nutraceutical and functional treat experience. Her background includes R&D experience with Outward Hound and FoodScience Corp. (VetriScience/Pet Naturals) and formulation work across 300+ SKUs, including soft chews, powders, capsules, and extruded products. Together, we bring expertise across formulation science, product development, palatability, regulatory strategy, manufacturing, and commercialization. -Best Fit Projects- I work especially well with pet supplement and treat startups, established pet brands developing new products, human supplement companies entering the pet category, and companies needing help with formulation, palatability, compliance, or manufacturing. Whether you're starting with an idea, an ingredient list, an existing formula, or a product already in development, I can help determine what's feasible, what needs to change, and the most practical path to market. Tell me what you're developing, the target species, intended benefit, and where you are in the process. Let's figure out the right next step.
