Sean C.
Magazine Journalist : Published Author : True Crime Scriptwriter
Need a writer who can make people forget they’re reading? Excellent. We should talk. I’m an internationally published writer, regular contributor to INKED, podcast scriptwriter, researcher and soon-to-be-published author. I write about everything from tattoo culture and the stranger corners of human history to true crime, cryptids and UFOs. In other words, I’m equally comfortable exploring why humans have spent thousands of years marking their skin and why someone in rural America is convinced they’ve seen a seven-foot-tall creature in the woods. I bring the same approach to every project: thorough research, compelling storytelling, a distinctive voice and the ability to make complicated subjects accessible without making them boring. Here’s what I can bring to your project: Articles and long-form features: Research-led, magazine-quality writing that informs, entertains and keeps readers engaged. I specialise in finding the human story behind a subject and making it worth reading. Podcast scripts: True crime, cryptids, UFOs and the unexplained. I know how to build intrigue, pace a story, introduce a reveal and keep an audience listening. The facts matter, the atmosphere matters, and so does knowing when to leave a question hanging. Books and long-form projects: I'm currently working towards publication as an author, with a book exploring the history, culture and meaning of tattooing. I’m no stranger to the long game, either. I can work on substantial manuscripts of up to 80,000 words, managing research, structure, narrative flow and consistency across an entire project. Research and fact-checking: My background spans tattooing, museum curation, art history and cultural research. I hold a Master’s in Creative Practice and have pursued doctoral research in art history, giving me the skills to dig beyond the first page of Google and distinguish a compelling story from a dubious claim. Editing and content development: I can help turn rough notes, sprawling research, interviews or an early draft into something coherent, engaging and ready for its intended audience, without sanding away the personality that made it interesting in the first place. What makes me different? I’m not interested in writing that merely fills a word count. I want to understand what makes a subject interesting, what an audience needs to know, and what will make them care enough to keep reading or listening. My background as a tattoo artist, curator, researcher and writer means I’m comfortable moving between specialist knowledge and accessible storytelling. I can handle the detail without losing sight of the bigger picture, and I know that good writing should sound like a knowledgeable human being talking to another human being, not a committee that’s just discovered the thesaurus. I also understand that a good story needs more than a strong opening. It needs substance, structure, rhythm and an ending that feels earned. Whether I'm writing a 1,000-word article or helping shape a book-length project, I bring the same care to the work. I’m particularly well suited to clients who value original thinking, reliable research, a collaborative approach and writing with an actual voice. If you need generic, soulless content churned out at industrial scale, I’m probably not your man. If you want writing that sounds like someone genuinely gave a damn, we’ll get along rather well. Let's make something worth reading. Have an article, podcast series, book or other ambitious project in mind? Send me a message with a little about what you're working on and what you want to achieve. Tell me where you are in the process, what you need help with, and what a successful result looks like to you. I’ll bring the research, the storytelling and the occasional questionable tangent. You bring the idea. Let’s make it a good one.
