Megan F.
Editor/Proofreader
Who I am: I have 13+ years of professional experience editing and proofreading a variety of personal and professional documents such as letters, e-mails, and proposals, and 3+ years of experience working specifically with Indie authors on their book manuscripts. My manuscript work centers mainly on helping Indie authors attain polished, grammatically accurate manuscripts which flow smoothly and are consistent and free of errors, while still maintaining the individual author’s unique voice; however, I am able to work with authors who intend to pursue traditional publishing as well. I’m excited to discuss how I can help you make your dream of self-publishing your book a reality! What I offer: • Correction of grammatical, spelling, and punctuation errors • Notation of improper/repetitive word usage and related revision suggestions • Focus on the consistency of tense usage and syntax • Restructuring of sentences/paragraphs to improve flow and clarity • Suggestions for realistic/believable character dialogue • Light rewriting of small sections of the document when needed to improve overall readability Why you should work with me: • My focus is specifically on you and your message as an author, and I place a high value on revising only what is necessary for a polished, consistent, easily readable finished product rather than altering your own personal voice. • When you trust me with your manuscript, you can be certain of the security and confidentiality of your unpublished work. I personally edit every document I receive and will never share or discuss your work with any third party. All information you provide to me will be securely and completely destroyed immediately upon completion of your project, unless you specifically request that I retain it for your future collaborations with me. • Years of providing tactful excellence in my work within the customer service industry has given me the experience necessary to ensure that your professional letters, proposals, or e-mails will cause your clients and customers to feel that they can be confident in your professionalism and attention to detail. What you can expect to receive: Unless otherwise requested, suggested revisions will be notated by the “Track Changes” function in Microsoft Word to ensure that you maintain the full autonomy to make the final decisions on which revisions/suggestions to accept and which to decline. Should you decide to accept all the recommended revisions, I will also provide a clean copy of the manuscript with the changes accepted as-is upon request. Some authors I've worked with have requested I provide editing suggestions strictly via Microsoft Word's "Add Comments" function, as it gives them even more autonomy over their finished work, and I'm happy to utilize that method if preferred.
