I do bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online, reconciliations, invoicing, AP/AR, and monthly reports- the kind of work that's less about knowing where the buttons are and more about knowing why a reconciliation won't balance and what to check first. My background is actually in finance — I have a degree in Finance and Banking, and before I ever touched QuickBooks, I managed the finance side of a real organization by hand: collecting and recording payments, tracking expenses, reconciling cash against the books every single month, reporting to leadership. That's where the instinct for "something's off, go find it" actually comes from. Since then I've built real QuickBooks Online skill through detailed, deliberate practice — not just clicking around a demo. I've worked full month-end cycles from a clean setup through bank reconciliation, including the messy real-world stuff that actually shows up on client files: a deposit that hasn't cleared yet, an outstanding check, a bill that needs a vendor credit applied, a customer who overpaid, fixed assets and their monthly depreciation, prepaid expenses spread across the year instead of dumped into one month. I'm upfront about where I am: I don't have years of paid QuickBooks client work yet. What I do have is a real finance background, an accurate understanding of how the numbers actually connect, and the habit of checking my own work rather than assuming it's right the first time.
