Elise Y.

Hello and welcome. My name is Elise Young and I'm about to write a sentence that will flood you with sweet relief, and maybe even joy. Ready? I'm a professional and I'm here to help. Relax. Big sigh. You and I haven't met, but I know your challenge well. I'm a career journalist of more than 30 years, most recently on staff of one of the world's largest and most influential news organizations. Every day I faced exactly what you're experiencing now: the need to tame a hostile pile of nouns and verbs and maybes and sort-ofs and I'll-check-on-thats. Now, as a freelance writer and editor, I'm your scout through this muck. Together we'll shape YOUR story, be it a resume, a marketing brochure, a business-to-business proposal, a newspaper op-ed, a cover letter or something else entirely. A year into this role, via Upwork.com and other avenues, I've compiled private-equity fundraising material for one of the world's most innovative software-as-a-service providers; ghostwritten several tech industry leaders' trade-journal submissions; analyzed and finessed large-language models for a global financial company; and coached a half-dozen high school seniors on personal essays that helped to nail their admissions to Ivy and other top-tier universities. (First lesson on the latter: Ditch the high-falutin' words you found in a thesaurus, kids, and write as though you're having a conversation. Magic.) Back to you, though, and why you're here. You need fast: I meet deadline daily. (Often, several.) You need discreet: I adhere to non-disclosure agreements. You need flexible: We can agree on an hourly or per-assignment rate. Keep this in mind. The task before you isn't your problem or my problem. It's not a problem at all. It's an opportunity for both of us. Together we'll shape a message that's sensical and stylish, free of clutter and cliche. No trendy nonsense buzzwords. No jargon. Feel better now? More confident? You can and you will. That's my job. That's what I do.
