Travel and Food Writer, Copywriter/editor, Food Educator

I have 18+ years of writing and editing experience using a variety of voices for travel guides, history books, and national and international magazines. I have also worked contract writing positions across many sectors ranging from design firms and sportswear companies to restaurant groups and educational organizations. I have written a lot of history, art, architecture, and travel and food-themed articles and enjoy diving deep into my subjects. My academic and professional background in architectural history provided opportunities to live, study, and work in Scotland, France, and England for five years, during which I traveled extensively throughout Europe. These experiences have honed my critical thinking, research and writing skills, and helped me to become adept at working within a variety of styles and voices. Since returning to the States, I had four travel guides (multiple editions) and history books published by large publishing houses and have contributed about 100+ articles to national and international publications. I am no stranger to the process of publishing both in print and digital formats. The combination of personal and professional travel combined with years of writing and editorial experience would allow me to bring robust knowledge to many types of positions. In 2008, I started a cultural and culinary travel company called Wanderlust Tours which took us all over Europe, the Caribbean, United States, and some parts of Asia. I developed the tours and maintain our company WordPress website along with its content. This included a few redesigns to keep current with SEO marketing initiatives, keyword rich content, and meta data descriptions. I have taken cooking classes around the world and parlayed this into a culinary-meets-travel program which I have taught for the past 12 years . My travel, cultural, and culinary vocabulary is expansive in the ability to speak to all sorts of countries, travel trends, historical backgrounds, and food traditions. A few years ago, I stepped away from our travel company as not to travel as much. I work part time teaching at Columbus State, but would fitting in contract writing positions that fall in line with the way I want to work these days – mostly remote from home, with consistent deadlines, and writing about a mix of interesting topics.
