Ella S.
Civil Engineer
In my current role as a Civil Engineer Design Technician, I combine a background in civil engineering, grading and erosion control, flood control, surveying, and water modeling to collaborate with fellow engineers and clients. As a graduate of the University of Arizona with a Bachelor’s degree in Biosystems Engineering, my education experience includes hydrologic and hydraulic analysis, surveying, data analysis, and Python programming. Currently, I contribute to civil engineering projects for a diverse range of clients, including state, federal, and private entities. My responsibilities as a design engineer include the design and analysis of wastewater facilities, site planning, stormwater management, grading and erosion control plans, and water system design and analysis. In previous roles I have worked as an Engineering Assistant for Pima County’s Flood Control District, where I aided in the operation and maintenance of the Flood Control Warning System. My responsibilities included fieldwork, system maintenance, gauge maintenance, hydrologic analysis, and report writing. In my role I also utilized GIS software, conducted Python programming tasks, and compiled detailed flood reports. I also have experience as a Topographic Surveyor with the U.S. Geological Survey, where I participated in a significant study on sediment dynamics in the Grand Canyon. This position involved collaborative efforts with multiple organizations and provided valuable insights into the effects of sediment reduction in Grand Canyon due to the construction of Glen Canyon Dam and possible mitigation plans.
